Nintendo is to offer games on special smart cards. A new device, the Card-e Reader, which plugs in to the back of Game Boy Advance consoles, will allow the cards to transfer data, including mini versions of games.

The company says that each trading card can store 3,360 bytes of data, enough for an entire mini-game. It will be launched across Europe later this year but a price has yet to be determined.

Nintendo has also said that it plans to release a new mini console for Pokemon fans - the Pokemon Mini. A platform for simple, themed games and puzzles, this device will also be on sale next year.
