This is ostensibly a game for children, so settle them down in front of this offering from The Learning Company.

Don't be surprised if Dad takes over with this magical mystery tour, however - trying as hard as he can to get the delectable Daphne to say something relevant or do more than simper and play with her hair.

The cartoon graphics are superb and the game should keep the kids amused until bedtime because it offers three levels of expertise, from spooky to spooktacular.

You have to solve 35 various clues - although this isn't as easy as you might think. A number of red herrings are included to put you off your stride and it will certainly give younger players a good run for their money as they search hard for the answers.

It subliminally teaches problem solving without making a meal of it - the only meals wanted are the ones Shaggy and Scooby keep asking for.

Should your youngsters get bored with trying to solve the clues or if it is a bit too taxing for younger siblings, there are 11 shorter activities to choose from. These include Scooby and the Faceless Rider having a shoot-out - with pies - at Pie Noon (don't blame us for the pun, blame the software writers).

There are also puzzles to solve as you go through the game and, joy of joys, a Scooby-Doo Message Mate for your Desktop and downloadable colour poster to print out.
