Bitstream has released a new version of its ThunderHawk web browser for handhelds. The update offers improvements in both the Pocket PC and Enterprise editions that make them easier to install and use, the firm said.
ThunderHawk version 1.07, available immediately, is a full-featured web browser for Pocket PC handhelds. It uses a client/server architecture, relying on a proxy server to render web pages to better suit the smaller screen area of the client device. The Enterprise edition lets firms install a proxy server on their corporate LAN instead of using a server operated by Bitstream.
Version 1.07 offers easier installation for the single user Pocket PC edition, and allows users to download and install ThunderHawk directly from the web. The Enterprise edition features improvements to the ThunderHawk server architecture, such as the ability to scale up to 64 concurrent users, doubling the capacity of previous versions.
