Verdict:

A great and easy way to save money with Skype

Rating:

4

Price:

£80

The Dualphone integrates internet telephony calls from Skype into a landline phone so that either can be used, depending on which is cheaper at the time.

There are two calling buttons, one for the BT line and the other for Skype. Up to 160 Skype contacts can be copied from the computer. They are arranged alphabetically on the phone, and it would have been convenient to be able to group them.

Still, the letters on the number keys can be used to jump through the list and any changes made to the contact name are automatically updated to the phone.

The display shows when Skype contacts become available or go offline and can be used to change your own online status.

The Dualphone does need the host computer to be left on and connected to the internet and it will only work with Skype, not other internet telephony services. But it's a great way to use the internet for cheap calls.
