Q I recently purchased an mp3 player using a 512MB SD memory
card. I use Windows Media Player to copy tracks from the computer. Although it
shows that tracks have been copied, when I try to use the mp3 player it says
there is no music.

A Unless told otherwise, Windows Media Player will always use the Windows Media Audio (WMA) format for copying music. This includes Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology that prevents music from being copied. Not all portable media players can play WMA files, even though Windows Media Player can copy the files to them.
If the music files do not have DRM applied to them it is possible to convert them to mp3. Download and install Cheetah Audio Converter.
