People can now get hold of a free version of animation software used by film professionals
Antics Technologies had made Antics V3, a version of its real-time animation software available for all animation enthusiasts.
The software takes out some of the hard work and complicated calculations needed to create computer animations. Using a simple point-and-click action, budding animators can move a character they have created from A to B in a single command.
Antics Technologies said although the software makes animation more accessible, it is still powerful enough to build complex scenes and add cameras to view the action from whatever angle and positions the budding film maker wants. The company's software was used as a pre-production tool in the forthcoming Chronicles of Narnia film.
Once the software has been downloaded, users can access the Antics content library, and make use of a variety of free characters, props and sets ranging from Wild West scenes to a modern city landscape.
Users can buy additional content for their scenes from the Antics website and also import third party 3D objects and animations. Users can also interact with other animators and share content, tips and showcase their creations through a new forum.
Alastair Woolley, Antics' managing director, said: “We see Antics as an evolving product and our users are at the centre of this. The new website is primarily a forum for users to share their experiences with each other but their feedback can also influence future products and content.”
Antics V3 is available for free download at the company's website.
