Review: Fujifilm Finepix Z10fd digital camera

As trousers get skinnier and pockets get smaller, camera manufacturers have to shrink their products to - literally - fit in. Fujifilm’s Finepix Z10fd is one example of this.

Although this camera is extremely small and light, we were pleased to see that this doesn't affect the screen size. It takes up nearly all the camera's back panel, so users still get access to an average-sized, very clear 2.5in display.

Squashed up to the right of the screen are two sets of buttons around which all of the camera's functions are centred. The top section operates the camera's face-detection feature, which did an impressive job of finding faces in a crowd, as well as controlling the zoom.

The second button is for image stabilisation, a feature that does a good job at getting steady shots if the photographer's hands are shaking, but affects the bright and clear colours the camera produces in its normal mode.

There is a built-in crop tool, to cut photos down before putting them on a computer or a website. The auction mode, which puts together multiple pictures into one, for use in an online auction listing, is also a nice touch, although if you don't sell your things on Ebay or similar sites it's not much use.

Overall the F10’s bright colours and generally good image quality easily justify its £129 price.
