The Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere is an iPod dock without bells or whistles - all
it does is play music from the iPod through its internal speakers.
That's in contrast to the Denon ASD-3W for instance, which has all kinds of
extra features.
What the
Pure-Fi
Anywhere lacks in extras, though, it makes up in audio quality - the four
speaker cones mounted on the front of the device offer excellent sound across
the range of tones, from bass to high treble.
Although the Pure-Fi Anywhere doesn't have a subwoofer, and so can't provide
the really deep bass of some of the bigger iPod speakers, the relatively small
unit is able to produce surprisingly loud sound without distortion.
It can be used at home - the base includes two feet which swing outwards to
provide support for it to stand upright - or taken outside, to make use of the
10-hour rechargeable battery. It comes with a mains charger and a hard travel
case that has room for the iPod and the supplied remote control.
Like most iPod docks, it charges any player that's placed in the dock area,
and it comes with adapters to allow all dock-compatible iPods to sit
comfortably. There is also a separate input for other music players, but of
course the Pure-Fi Anywhere can't charge these.
It's true that docks can cost as little as £30, but for the sound quality
that this device offers, it's worth paying the extra.
