Q I am an Orange Broadband user, and the help section on the
company’s website suggests that I should be able to upload pages to my personal
website from a third-party application.
I use Serif Webplus, but no combinations of address and password work. I get
a message saying that my username is wrong or my password is incorrect.
Using Orange’s own web-based Sitebuilder works, but this is very limited when
it comes to templates and other options. I have also tried using Terrapin FTP,
but this also fails to connect.
C Newton
A The password and username you use to connect to the Orange
website FTP server are not the same as the ones you use for other Orange
services. While the password for your email account is usually the same one as
is used to log in to the broadband service itself, the site builder is kept
separate for security reasons.
The same will apply to other ISPs. Orange’s customer service people should be
able to tell you the correct details, or send you new ones.
