Q I recorded some home videos with a digital camera held in
portrait rather than landscape. I now can’t find a way to rotate them the right
way up.
Harold Tisser
A This is simple using Windows Movie Maker. This software
should already be installed on your computer, as it was included with Windows XP
Service Pack 1.
Start Windows Movie Maker and click on Import video in the Movie Tasks on the
left-hand side of the window. Browse to the video concerned, left-click on it
once and then click on Import.
Drag and drop the clips into the storyboard at the bottom of the window.
Windows Movie Maker may split the video into segments. If so, left-click and
drag around them all and drop them into the storyboard. Click on the View video
effects and scroll down to the Rotate effects. Drag and drop the correct
rotation down to the storyboard. You will need to do this for each clip in the
storyboard.
Finally, click on the Save to my computer option in the Movie tasks. Enter a
name and location for the file, and click on next. Select the ‘Best quality for
playback on my computer’ option and click on Next. The movie will be converted
so it is the right way up. Click on Finish to end the wizard.
