PC help: Burn CDs while listening

Most PCs can multi-task

Written by Tim Smith and Anthony Dhanendran, Computeract!ve

Q Is it possible to record a CD at the same time as listening to online radio and is any extra equipment required?
Joe Jamieson

A In theory there is no reason why this cannot be done by an ordinary computer. The online radio programme and audio files for the CD are just different kinds of information as far as the computer is concerned.

They are handled completely separately, so there is no danger of the radio programme being recorded to the audio CD by accident.

If there is a problem with listening to online radio and burning a CD at the same time, it is more likely to be due to asking the computer to do too much at the same time. This may lead to the radio programme breaking up or the failure of the disc burning process.

To avoid wasting discs, always run a simulation of burning the disc first. This is an option in most burning programs.
