To provide the best results on today’s HD-ready TVs, the player includes a Faroujda DCDi processor that can upscale pictures to 1080p the highest of high-definition video formats via its digital HDMI connection.

And, just to make sure you get the very best images, we’re including the award-winning Supra HF100 HDMI cable worth £50 in the package.

For those of you yet to move to an HD screen, both component and RGB Scart outputs are included to ensure users get the best from standard TVs.

The DVD-1930 will also happily work with digital video files in the popular DivX format, letting you watch all of those downloaded clips on a big screen, and produce slideshows to entertain family and friends using Jpeg images and Kodak format Photo CDs.

Given the company’s hi-fi heritage, it’s no surprise to find the audio side of the player has been built with music lovers in mind. The 1930 offers playback of multi-channel DVD-Audio discs and SACDs, as well as standard CDs, and can pump MP3 and WMA files from PCs through your speakers too.

Naturally, it can handle both Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound formats and boasts both analogue and digital audio outputs for connection to an amplifier or receiver.

Of course, there’s no point having all of this technology unless it’s easy to use. The DVD-1930 features a rock- solid chassis with a clear front panel display, and large controls that are logical and easy to use, even in low light conditions, making a refreshing change from the usual ultra-slim designs with tiny buttons.

All key operational features are accessible on the front panel, with no need to dig into complicated onscreen menus, while the supplied remote control lets you explore all of the options available.
