Computeractive's top 50 websites

Having a choice is great, but there can be too much to choose from. We've trawled the web to come up with our 50 most useful and entertaining sites

Computeractive staff, Computeract!ve 12 Apr 2005

These days the internet is a serious business. Regardless of whether you want to buy a car, sell household items, run a business or glean hard-to-find information on the most obscure subject, a few taps on the keyboard and it's yours on a plate.

This, of course, is splendid but the internet is just as important for entertainment. We don't mean the kind you have to pay for, like music downloads or the soon-to-come movies on demand. We want fun but we don't want to have to pay for it. With this in mind, the Computeractive team had a brainstorm about some of the websites that we like.

Some are pure fun and mischief, while others relate to common hobbies. All are suitable for both dial-up and broadband users. We hope to have dug up something for everyone but it is a completely arbitrary list of some of our web faves. So, without any further ado, here are 50 websites that we find helpful and entertaining.
