Mono 1.02

A different kind of shoot-em-up

Anthony Dhanendran, Computeract!ve 30 Nov 2005

Written by its programmers as a test of some parts of another game they were working on, Mono was released 'in the hope that someone might get some enjoyment from it'. As the programmers themselves say, it doesn't have any original features, gameplay twists or surprises.

Then again, it's a lot of fun. The idea is a little like the old arcade game Asteroids. You play a small blob, which can fire at the other, larger blobs that appear on the screen. If a blob is hit, it splits into smaller particles. At the same time, the part of the screen the blob hit is painted the same colour.

It may not sound like much fun, but it's quite addictive and also quite relaxing.
