Drive Bays links

The links from our feature on drive bays and what you can do with them

Anthony Dhanendran, Computeract!ve 20 Feb 2006

For more information about drive bays, take a look at Wikipedia's entry on them.

Many drive bay accessories, along with tools and the cables to fit them, are available from Maplin.

The Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Drive Bay Hub is available from PC
World
.

The generic USB 2 hub with Firewire ports can be found at Computer Webstore.

Trust's Media Connect Bay, which includes memory card readers and other sockets, is available from C &C.

BTC's novel combined CD writer and card reader is available from Space Computers.

The Flash Genie, made by Eumax, is available from Ultimate Electronics Online - Eumax's website isn't working at the moment, so we can't give you an information link for the product. However, it is available in 3.5in and 5.25in versions, to fit whichever drive bay you have free. Both are available from the UEO site.

The Soundgraph iMon VFD is a media controller for the computer, complete with a remote control. It is available from QuietPC.

Zalman's ZM-MFC1 Fan Speed Controller is also available from QuietPC, as is the company's hard disk cooler.

Akasa's multi-function panel, the Allinone, is a 5.25 model that has several functions (hence the
name). It's available from Chillblast.

ThermalTake's BigWater SE is a complete water-cooling system for the computer, which makes use of the drive bay. The
BigWater SE can be bought from The Cooling Shop.

The Coolermaster Musketeer gives readouts of several useful indicators, while Coolermaster's
Aerogate is a similar model with slightly different features. Both are available from Overclockers.

For mounting removable hard disks, try the Aries Removable Hard Disk Caddy from Savastore. Zip drives and 5.25in floppy disk drives can be found on eBay.

Finally, the ThermalTake X-Ray is the slightly silly coffee cup holder and cigarette lighter, available from Planet Micro.

In addition to the BigWater and the X-Ray, ThermalTake has a large line of drive bay accessories, and, likewise, more can be found at QuietPC.
