CDRom-Lock

Take control of optical drives

Tim Smith, Computeract!ve 04 Aug 2006

Notebook optical drives, with the button on the side or front, can be easily opened by mistake, especially at inopportune times. CDRom-Lock avoids this problem by disabling the button.

If there is more than one optical drive attached to the notebook, say an extra external drive for example, each can be controlled separately. It can be used on desktop computers as well.

To keep the Windows Taskbar tidy, CDRom-Lock is only shown in the Notification Area but all the options are still available with a right click of your mouse on the icon.
