Martin Lynch, Personal Computer World 14 Nov 2006

Cyberlink is aiming to protect people from any fallout from the Blu-ray versus HD DVD high-definition format war by supporting both formats in the latest version of its Powerproducer authoring software.

Powerproducer 4 Next-Gen features high-definition video capturing and production facilities, along with support for widescreen, 19:9 playback. There is also support for 4:3 templates.

The product has recently been certified for Blu-ray compatibility and already supported HD DVD. The new version has options for creating disc chapters automatically and support for background music and first play video.

The Magic Video Editing tools have been enhanced and allow for quick, on-the-fly corrections, thematic titles and transitions with both video and photos.

“Powerproducer 4 Next-Gen makes high-definition and widescreen authoring accessible to the home user,” said CyberLink chief ececutive Alice H Chang.

“Through support of HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs, Powerproducer 4 meets the needs of disc authoring enthusiasts and takes an already strong video and photo editing program to the next level.”

Shipping now, it costs approximately £40. An upgrade from Powerproducer 3.7 will cost £24.
