Microsoft engages in pointless product placement
Product placement may be old hat, but Microsoft has managed to conjure up a particularly egregious example for its search engine Bing.
In a recent episode of Hawaii Five-0, two of the characters are looking around an art gallery. The dialogue goes:
This is a Clifton Bowles original. You don't believe me? Bing it.
Video after the jump...
It's obviously an attempt to take on some of Google's 'mindshare' - which refers to the fact that when most of us talk about searching for something we talk about "Googling" it.
But the dialogue is so ham-fisted that the whole thing just sounds fake. Not to mention that "Bing it" sounds so ridiculous. The main character does oblige, however: she says "I will" and pulls out an LG smartphone running Windows Phone 7 to do just that.
Of course, the strangest thing about the whole story is the realisation that Hawaii Five-O has been remade.
