Video: Scan's Think Out Of Box projection system

This kit, shown at the Gadget Show Live, uses a mirror to create a screen that surrounds you

The Scan TOOB projector system

Projectors are great for creating a huge display, but at the Gadget Show Live in Birmingham Scan Computers were showing off a kit that goes one step further, surrounding you in the image.

It's ideal for gaming, and the kit was set up with a racing game that visitors could try out. We took to the wheel, with less than impressive results:

The Think Out Of Box system uses a curved mirror and a special screen to create a cockpit that surrounds you with the image - and it works with both 2D and 3D projectors. The effect when sitting inside is really quite impressive.

It's not on sale yet, but is expected to cost around £1000: not cheap, but it could be ideal for fans of flight simulators as well as driving games. Add another £300 or so for a suitable projector.
