Humble Indie Bundle 3 - buy great games cheap, and support charities at the same time

New budget collection offers top independent games for less

The Humble Indie Bundle 3

The Humble Bundle series is a great idea. Every so often, a collection of games is released, and buyers can choose to pay however much they like for the complete set.

Just before Christmas last year the previous edition was released, and it included such excellent games as Braid and Machinarium as well as some lesser-known titles.

Customers can choose an amount to pay, starting from as little as a few pence (the transaction is conducted in US dollars) although some choose to pay thousands of pounds.

The new Humble Bundle 3 has just become available, and will continue to be so for the next 13 days (at the time of writing, obviously). That takes it up to August 9.

It includes Crayon Physics Deluxe, Cogs, VVVVVV, Hammerfight and And Yet It Moves.

Cleverly, not only does the site allow people to choose how much to pay, it even allows them to choose where their money goes. Using a series of sliders you can set the amount of your payment that goes to the games' developers and charities the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child's Play. You can also pick how much is given as a 'tip' to the people behind the Humble Bundle.

This time around, we haven't reviewed any of the games, but going on the quality of the last bunch, it's well worth picking up. Games, once bought, can be downloaded from the Humble Bundle website or added to a user's Steam account.
