Give your Desktop a spruce up with some new wallpapers
I'm not suggesting that you spend hours choosing the ideal Desktop wallpaper but if you want a bit of variation, I strongly recommend the monthly selection from Smashing Magazine. Released on the first of every month (ie today) there should be something for everyone. There are plenty of different screen sizes catered for and most are available both with and without a calendar for the month.
Read on for advice on cycling between different wallpapers.
This is easy in Windows 7 as it has support for multiple wallpapers built in. Make sure you save all of the wallpapers you want into the same folder. Right-click on the Desktop and left-click on Personalize. Click on Desktop Background at the bottom of the window. Click on Browse and find the folder with your wallpapers. Click on OK and the pictures found in that folder will be displayed below.
Use the check boxes to deselect any images you don't want. Check the picture position, I use the Fill option and then set how often you want the picture to change. I find anything less than 30 minutes to be too distracting. Click on Save Changes and you're done.

Windows XP can't do this by itself but there's a free app called Wallpaper Juggler that I used to switch between wallpapers. Click here to download Wallpaper Juggler. Wallpaper Juggler can even download wallpapers for you but it's totally random as to whether you get something you like.
