It's a download not a DVD but still one of the cheapest Windows upgrades ever
The Windows Team Blog has announced that a download upgrade for Windows 8 will be available for US$40. That's £27 at a direct conversion but we've seen companies use US$1 = £1 before now.
The blog also states that you can add Windows Media Center at no extra cost through the 'Add features' option after Windows 8 Pro has been installed.
The upgrade must be purchased through windows.com and will start the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant to complete the download and installation.
There will be an option to create a bootable disc, which would be useful if the computer ever needs a complete reinstall.
An upgrade box with a DVD will cost US$70.
This won't be the lasting price of the upgrade. According to the blog, this price will only be available until January 31st 2013.
