Mr Singh may be entitled to a replacement Windows 7 upgrade disk if he can prove the original was faulty

I bought an Acer Aspire desktop from Staples in November 2009, which came with an upgrade to Window 7.

I received my upgrade kit from a company called Mentor Media. I followed the instructions but I was unable to upgrade the PC.

Staples and Acer would not help because the software is from a third party. When Windows 7 was released I bought another copy to upgrade my current laptop.

I used this to upgrade my new desktop PC as well but used the licence key that came with my upgrade kit to validate the software.

However, I am still owed a Windows 7 upgrade disc.

Manjit Singh

Mr Singh may be entitled to a new upgrade disk but only if he can prove it is faulty.

By this we mean that the physical medium (ie the CD or DVD) is corrupt. Otherwise he is not covered by the Sale of Goods Act.

Even if Mr Singh got a free replacement disk, we do not see the point of asking for this. He is not entitled to another licence key because if he was given this he would essentially get another copy of Windows 7, free of charge, which he could put on another PC.

We have a series of videos available to download on our website that explain how to perform an upgrade and a clean install.

Aspire 5735 update to widows 7

In my case the discs were perfect. It was only after 4 hours of using the first disc that a window told me that the discs did not support the 5735. The advice about the availability of the upgrade came from Acer. I want Windows 7 but now do not know what to do. Any advice?
