A reader awaiting a refund of £7 from Tesco says he stuck in a customer service loop following the company's closure of its internet telephony service
I noticed recently that you got a refund from Tesco for a reader who had been promised a repayment of money owed to him from the now defunct Tesco internet phone service. I, too, have been awaiting a cheque for £7 from this retailer since April.
I am now stuck in an endless loop after emailing customer services, which referred me to Tesco Home Phone, which sends me back to customer services and so on. You get the idea.
Nick Mills
A lot of Tesco customers were unhappy when the retailer closed its internet telephony service. The company told us it pulled the plug in April because customers showed no appetite for it.
"Technology has moved on and the service wasn't proving popular with Tesco customers. It was decided that the service was not sustainable," Tesco told us.
But obviously this meant some customers, such as Mr Mills, were left with their accounts in credit. Although he is not owed much money, the whole process of being passed from pillar to post has been extremely annoying for him.
More concerning is the claim he made to us that he is not the only person having problems. He said he has seen a number of complaints on different websites - we found some, but not many.
We asked Tesco if could look at this claim and give us a contact number or email that can be used by other Tesco internet phone customers who are having difficulty getting their refund.
