Get advanced warning of hard disk problems
Get a warning of a hard disk that is on the way out
The worst part of a experiencing a hard drive failure is not replace the physical disk itself but making sure that all of your important documents. Acronis Drive Monitor won't prevent failures but it can give an early warning so you have time to back up documents and photos.
It does this by monitoring what is called SMART data provided by all modern hard disks. SMART stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology. The hard disk measure how long it takes to perform certain actions such as how long it takes to reach full speed and the temperature of the disk.
It's not always easy to find this information, or understand it so Acronis Drive monitor has a simple summary screen that only reports on detected problems. It is possible to browse the entire list of SMART information and it has a column showing the threshold values, so it is clear if there is something wrong.
Drive Monitor will check for backup software and warn if it cannot find any.
It can even be set to send you an email if a problem is detected, ideal for computers that are left unattended.
Please note that this is not a direct download link, you will need to provide an email address to download Drive Monitor.

How to download
When your directed to Acronis's website to download this program, a little tip is to look on the right of the screen where it asks you if your a home or a business user. The area looks so much like the ads you've trained your eyes to ignore for so long, that if like me, you can spend quite a while not noticing the words and then wondering just how to download things.
