This handy program will download podcasts from the internet if you don't want to use iTunes
Use Juice to download and listen to podcasts
Podcasts are audio programmes on the internet that can cover all kinds of subjects. Many shows are distributed via iTunes, but if you don't have an iPhone or just want to download shows to your computer, Juice is a good alternative.
Installation is simple and there are no podcasts in the Subscriptions list by default. This prevents wasting hard disk space on unwanted shows. The Podcast directory has some suggestions although several of the options are out of date.
Adding subscriptions is simple, click on the green plus icon in the Subscriptions tab and paste in the link for the podcast. We were able to subscribe to podcasts offering both audio and video although iTunes links didn't work.
You can select which episodes to download and there is an option in the Preferences window to automatically disable downloading when the hard disk is nearly full.
According to Wikipedia, development of Juice has effectively stopped, although it is still a good podcast app. One alternative is gPodder, which is being regulary updated.
Despite this, we like the Juice interface, which is clean and easy to use.
Visit the Juice for the Mac and Linux versions.
