A portable utility for synchronising, backing up and encrypting files and folders
Toucan is a free utility for synchronising and backing up folders and documents
If you use Portable Apps to keep your most useful programs with you when working from a USB key, Toucan includes some very useful tools.
The most important from a security point of view is the ability to encypt (and decrypt) files and folders. This should help to prevent anyone getting access to your information should disaster strike and you lose the USB key.
Another helpful tool is folder synchronisation that make backing up easy. Folders can be copied, updated, mirrored or equalised depending on how you want files to be updated.
Dedicated backups can be created as ZIP and 7-ZIP files, helping to save space.
Advanced users can take advantage of the command line options that allow repeated jobs to be combined into batch files.
There are two ways to install Toucan. You can either run this download and select a location for Toucan or it can be installed into the Portable Apps launcher. To do this, click on Options and then Install a new app. Find the download and double-click on it. Click on Run.
