Keep hard disks running smoothly
Improve the performance of your computer with Diskeeper
We often recommend defragmenting your hard drive(s) to stop data loss and maintain high performance. Excessive fragmentation of files on a hard disk can lead to all sorts of problems including slow performance and loss of data
Diskeeper offers several advantages over the standard Windows program. It can run if there are other applications open and offers much more information about the state of the hard drive and the effect of the defragmentation.
Other features include defragmenting before Windows has started up, so that it can fix the files that cannot be touched when Windows is running.
It also has a Smart Scheduling feature, where Diskeeper automatically defragments the hard drive as and when it sees fit, leaving you to get on with doing your work.
Diskeeper will defragment your drive in real-time, so you can minimise the number of system resources used.
The new 2009 edition contains improved invisitasking, which will automatically defrag your drive in the background, and an improved defrag engine.

Great.
I have been evaluating the free trial version of Diskeeper 2009 Professional (a step above the Home version) and it's amazing. Runs nicely in the background and defrags automatically without bothering me. It defragmented both drives *simultaneously* and very quickly without leaving a single fragment behind. A truly impressive program.
