Convert videos from digital camcorder format to something video editing software can use
MP4Cam2AVI can convert video from camcorders so it can be edited in Windows
Recording video with a digital camcorder is normally straightforward but it can sometimes be more challenging to edit it afterwards.
Not all camcorders record in a format that can be used with editing software, so it must be converted first. MP4Cam2AVI is a very useful utility that can do this for you.
Videos from camcorders or cameras can come in a variety of formats such as MP4, MOV and AVI. MP4Cam2AVI can also cope with the higher quality MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video from new H.264 cameras like Sanyo CG65 and Casio EX-V7 although the H.264 VfW must be installed.
The video is not recompressed so quality is not comprimised, even so MP4Cam2AVI claims to be able to process video at five to 20 times realtime. Audio can be converted into MP3 using the included Lame software.
Quicktime is not required to view or edit .MOV files.
