A useful upgrade to Notepad
Edit text files with ease using Crimson Editor
Notepad is a useful little text editor, but it quickly becomes limited when faced with anything more than a plain text note.
Crimson Editor can be used at no cost and includes a wide range of extras.
The first thing that becomes obvious is that Crimson Editor has a tabbed interface so it is possible to edit more than one document at a time. It can undo and redo multiple changes and show a folder view of documents. Word wrapping is possible without affecting the contens of the text file and indentation can be adjusted.
If you are into editing web pages or any other form of code, Crimson Editor can apply colour coding to important words. There are several languages included and others can be added or created if required.
A basic spell checker is included that underline unrecognised words like Microsoft Word.
Crimson Editor can also run macros to speed up regular tasks.
