Block inappropriate websites
Keep internet users safe
Web filtering is a good way of making sure that undesirable websites cannot be loaded in an internet browser.
This download adjusts the settings on your computer to work with the Scrub IT service.
Rather than install software on a computer to block websites, Scrub IT replaces the DNS servers of your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
The DNS servers are used to change the text of a web address into the numbers used by computers. Normally this information is provided automatically by the ISP but it is also possible to use an alternative server.
The Scrub IT servers have lists of banned websites and will send a message telling the user of this if they try to access a banned website.
This software makes the required changes automatically on Windows 2000 and Windows XP computers but it is possible to use the service with any operating system by changing the DNS servers manually.
This will not work if anyone uses a Live CD on the computer.
