Add additional buttons to the open and save windows
Windows has some useful shortcuts for finding the right folder in which to save a file, but only if you stick with the folders it expects.
Flashfolder Tool is a useful utility that gives easier access to a wider range of folders more quickly.
It appears as an additional bar above dialogue boxes such as Open and Save. It has a menu of recently used folders and a menu of favourite folders that you can specify. There is even an all files option.
Although it doesn't immediately help finding folders, Flashfolder Tool changes these windows so that they can be resized. This is very useful when dealing with very long filenames. It also makes sure that the windows appear in the centre of the screen.
The tool can use keyboard shortcuts to go to the last used folder, menu options including currently opened and favourite folders, and the view all files option.
The developers of Flashfolder Tool have tested it with the following programs:
common open/save dialogue (Windows 2000 / XP)
MS Office 2002/2003/2008 open/save dialogue (Windows XP only)
Visual Studio 2003/2005 open/save dialogue (Windows XP only)
common 'browse for folder' dialogue (Windows 2000 / XP)
'Open With' dialogue (Windows 2000)
The 'open with' dialogue is an exception in that it does not host the Flashfolder toolbar. Flashfolder only enlarges this dialogue and repositions it according to what is set in the options dialogue.
