Access and receive files from your computer
Make files available online with Filezilla Server
FTP is one of the best ways of sharing large files from a computer on the internet, but Windows does not have this built in. Filezilla Server is from the same people that produced the excellent Filezilla FTP Client software.
It defaults to installing as a service that is started when Windows does, but it is possible to change it to a manually started service, if you don't want it active all the time.
When it starts a window appears asking which server to connect to, there is an option to always connect to the same server. Probably best not to save until a password has been set up.
By default there are no folders set up for access with FTP. This is a good idea from a security point of view. Adding folders and users is very simple. Different users can be given different folders to access online so their files are safe from each other. Users can also be included in groups.
As good as this software is, there is no help included with it, which is a disappointment. Some help can be found on the Filezilla Wiki.
