USB Disk Ejector

Eject USB devices properly without fuss

image-screenshot-of-usb-disk-ejector

Remove USB disks properly to avoid data loss

This convenient utility compliments the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Notification Area.

This icon makes sure USB devices are safe to remove; if a file is open on a USB key that is removed it may be lost or corrupted.

Essential though this icon is, it is a little fiddly to use and can be easily hidden by Windows trying to be helpful.

USB Disk Ejector shows a list of all of the USB devices connected to the computer in a much bigger window that is easier to use. Simply double click on the correct device to have Windows prepare it for removal.

It is a standalone program so there is no installation wizard to follow. Extract the download to a convenient folder and double click on the icon to start.

According to the publisher it has been tested on both Windows XP and Vista but should work on older versions too.
