Post to Twitter from the Firefox address bar
It's easy to post to Twitter with Twitterbar
Twitter is the micro-blogging site that is getting ever more popular. With posts limited to 140 characters the emphasis is on quick and easy.
Twitterbar helps speed up posting to Twitter by allowing you to make posts directly from the Firefox address box.
This is even faster with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl and L that takes you straight to the bar without having to use the mouse.
Twitterbar is certainly unobtrusive as the only hint of its presence is a small dot at the right of the address bar. This gets bigger to show the number of characters left for the Twitter when the mouse hovers over it. Left-clicking on this button will post the comment.
It is even possible to post without clicking on this button by typing – post at the end of the comment. One criticism of this character counter is that it doesn't account for the conversion of any links in the comment into tinyurls, which happens automatically.
Even so, this is an excellent tool for sending updates to twitter, especially if you use Twitter to share links with other people.

Twitterbar Download Problems
My computer doesn't seem to recognise the filetype of this download ... I've been directed to 'Microsoft Application Search' ... from this I've learnt I need a program able to open an XPI file but which one should I use please, do you have any recommendations. thank you

Best to download in Firefox
If you download the file in Firefox it will recognise it as an addon and offer to install it. Actually a bar will appear at the top asking if you would like to install it. I'm not sure if you can download it in IE and then install it in Firefox later. As it is such a small download it shouldn't take too long, even on dial up. Hope that solves the problem Kind regards Tim
