Make your own crosswords
Create your own crosswords simply
Crosswords are still a popular word game, but making them can be a little tricky. Eclipse Crossword takes the hard work out of arranging the words on the grid. All you have to do is to come up with the words and their clues.
This download is not actually Ecilpse Crossword but a small utility that downloads the latest version of the software.
The starting wizard offers the choice between starting a new crossword and continuing on an old one. The first step is to create a word list. This can be saved in a special file format for use in a different crossword. Once the crossword has a name and an author, the size of the puzzle is set and the crossword is created.
The output capabilities are quite impressive. It can be saved in the Eclipse Crossword format so it can be edited later on. There is another chance to save the word list.
The crossword can be printed in a variety of different ways, including an answer key for marking the crossword later on. There are some web options, including an interactive version using Javascript. A Java applet version can also be used for older web browsers. Finally the grid can be exported as a Windows metafile (WMF) or Postscript (EPS) image.
The appearance of the crossword can be adjusted with different fonts and box sizes.
Crosswords made with Eclipse Crossword can be freely distributed in print or on the web.
