Lock or locate a stolen or lost computer with Prey
Whether it's due to theft or leaving a notebook on the train a lost computer can be a worry. Prey offers several tools for peace of mind, either finding a lost device or locking it so that your files are safe.

Installation is simple and requires setting up a reporting method. The recommended setting is the easiest as you can monitor the computer from the preyproject.com website. Setting up an account on the Prey website is built into the wizard and requires an email address and password. The account will need to be activated using the link in the email.
Once it has been set up there is no mention of it in the Notification Area but the configuration program can still be found in the Start Menu.
Prey can be set to automatically connect to any open wireless networks and if it can use the guest account on the computer.
