Back up emails from your computer or the web with Mailstore Home
Backing up documents is fairly straightforward but emails can be harder to find and store. MailStore Home can back up emails saved with programs on your computer or directly from an online account.
Installation is simple. There is an option to sign up for the MailStore newsletter at the end but it isn't manditory. It can create a new archive or update an existing one.
It supports almost every email program and webmail service including Microsoft Outlook, Exchange, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Google Mail. If a service isn't included in that list it also supports IMAP and POP and email files.
If you have to choose between IMAP and POP, IMAP is the better option because it can be used to save the entire email account – POP can only save the inbox. We were pleased to see that it defaults to leaving emails on the POP server. Lots of email programs delete by default. That would be quite silly for a backup program.
Backups can be saved to CD, DVD or an external hard disk or USB memory key. An index is also created for searching emails.
