Convert ebooks so you don't have to download them again to read on a different device
Convert ebooks with the Hamster ebook converter
There are lots of different ebook readers and just as many different ebook formats. The Hamster Free eBook Converter is a useful tool for converting ebooks you may have had from old devices that don't work on a new one.
It will convert between formats used by the iPad as well as Sony and Amazon Kindle devices.
Formats supported include: TXT, PDF, FB2, LIT, HTMLZ, PDB, LRF and PUB
Installation is simple. This download is a utility to download the latest version. As with most hamster products it asks you to like it on facebook. It won't force you to so it's not a problem. It does offer to install the Hamster Free ZIP Archive and the option is preselected.
It is easy to use. Drag and drop ebooks onto the Converter window or you can add them by clicking on the icon in the middle of the window. Click on the Next button once they are added and choose what to convert them to.
This step is made easier because this step lists devices first rather than demanding that you know the format used by a particular device. If you do want to choose a format, these can be found at the bottom of the window.
Click on the Convert button and the books will be converted. There is an option to open the folder with the new ebooks once it has finished or you can return to the list.
Careful reading of the licence agreement reveals that it uses technology from the Calibre ebook manager.
