Block viruses with Bit Defender

Bit Defender Free Edition is an on-demand virus scanner, the sort of tool that is useful for scanning a computer that may have become infected due to not having any antivirus software installed.

Although the date is 2009, it still has recent updates. The limitation is that it will only work as a manual scanner, it won't monitor files to prevent infection.

This download will connect to the internet and download the full copy of Bit Defender Free Edition 2009. A restart is required to complete the installation. Registration with Bit Defender is also required to get updates.

After installation it will update itself automatically and prompt you to scan the computer for malicious software.

The lack of active monitoring means that this isn't really an antivirus to use as your main source of protection; alternatives from AVG and Avast are also available at no cost and will offer better protection.

But it is a useful security program if you need to scan a computer that you suspect may have malicious software on it.
