MPEG Streamslip can handle a large number of different video formats
The software might appear basic, but it a very capable video converter
MPEG Streamclip is a free-to-use video converter that works on Windows and Mac computers.
There are a lot of different video formats out there and this can be irritating when it comes to editing together footage. A large number of file formats are supported such as MPEG, VOB, AVI, MOV and MP4.
The software is easy to use; select the video file you want to convert and so long as the file-type is supported, it will appear in the main window of MPEG Streamclip. It can then be exported back out in a number of different formats.
There are a lot of options to play around with. The most useful ones deal with file compression and video size, allowing you to get the right file size and video resolution. There are also some fairly rudimentary tools for changing brightness, contrast, saturation and volume. A text watermark can also be added.
There are presets for exporting video for iPhones and other mobile smartphones.
For a free video converter, MPEG Streamclip is one of the best available.
