Never lose track of another item with our example database
This example database shows how tables, forms, queries and reports are used to make a database
Most of us use spreadsheets to organise information, but there are times when a database can do the job much better, both in the way information is presented and reducing the amount of work needed to keep it up to date.
We've created an example database to help you. You will need Libre Office installed to use the database. You can download the ordinary version of Libre Office, or there is also a Portable version of Libre Office.
After downloading the file, start Libre Office Base and select the 'Open an existing database file' option. Click on the Open button, find our example download and click on Open.
The database keeps track of items that have been lent to other people. There are tables for the items, item types, contacts and the loans.
We have included a selection of contacts, items and loans to give you some idea of how the different parts of the database work together.
Experiment with the different options and to remove our example information to make room for you own. Don't worry about making mistakes that break the database, as you can always download it again.
