Organise and enjoy your music with Apple iTunes

Some clever features and a clear interface make Apple's iTunes a great way to organise and enjoy music

Apple iTunes

iTunes has been around for a number of years and has a lot of great features

There are a lot of ways to listen to music on your computer and iTunes is one of the best.

While the iTunes store might not give you the best value, you can import music from just about anywhere into iTunes, making it a really good place to organise all your music and also get more from it.

There are various options for viewing and browsing through your music collection and the aesthetic iTunes interface makes finding and enjoying your music easy. Importing music into iTunes is easy, be it from a CD or from a music download store.

The iTunes Store, while often quite expensive, also has an extensive range of free-to-download podcasts.

The Genius, which creates playlists based on your musical tastes, is a great way to quickly and easily create a playlist to match you mood. Creating and managing playlists is also easy.

Overall, the iTunes interface is clear and easy to use and if a music collection is well organised it can look great.

Unfortunately, it only really supports Apple-made products (iPad, iPhone, iPod, etc.), which is irritating for getting music onto other devices to enjoy on the move. But as a stand-alone application for enjoying music on a desktop computer or laptop, iTunes is hard to beat.

iTunes bloat

iTunes software is massively resource hungry, slow, restrictive and is beaten by my 'PC' softwares both free and paid for. Even clients who own ipods have uninstalled it!
