Avoid repeatedly typing common phrases with this clever utility
Insert commonly used phrases with PhraseExpress
It's often necessary to enter the same information over and over again. AutoText in Word can help save time but only when writing text documents. PhraseExpress runs all the time on Windows and will leap in to help whenever it detects a phrase that needs to be replaced
Installation is simple. Options include starting with Windows, using PhraseExpress in a network, installing a sample library and integration into file context menus. It does warn that it might be identified as spyware because it detects keyboard input.
After installation it offers to show the tutorial. This is online rather than installed with PhraseExpress. This does mean that it is always up to date. There is information about the new features in the latest version as well as the standard new user video.
PhraseExpress appears in the Notification Area. Left-click on the icon to see a menu with various shortcuts both for text entry and websites. Selecting a website will automatically launch the site in a browser.
It can be set to learn common typos and their correction so they can be automatically corrected in the future. It will offer a correction, with pressing Tab to confirm the change. New common typos can also be added by hand. While this is a useful idea in the short term, it does mean that you won't unlearn the typo, potentially causing confusion when working on a computer without PhraseExpress.
New sections of text to add can be imported from text documents. Text files can be imported line by line, which is useful if you have made a document with term tab definition.
Macros have code highlighting numbered lines and there are lots of pop ups with information and extra help.
There are some fairly comprehensive time insert options with lots of ways to display the date and even round off to nearest quarter, half or full hour.
It can even tell you what your typing speed is.
PhraseExpress is free for personal use or works as a 30-day trial for commercial users.
