Based on old versions of Windows Media Player, this is a simple way to enjoy video and audio
Media Player Classic is a good option for slower or older computers that struggle with more complicated software
Media Player Classic is an audio and video player for Windows. The major plus-point for this simple piece of software is that it doesn't demand much from a PC.
Based on old versions of Windows Media Player, Classic supports playback for a large number of file-types without the need to install additional codecs. Among others, it will play WAV, WMA, MP3, OGG, MIDI, MPG, MP4, SWF, MOV and FLV files. We found it had difficultly opening and playing larger video files, which was annoying.
The interface is very simple, with few extraneous options. Open a media file or insert a DVD or CD and Media Player Classic will do the job. For lower-spec PCs, or people fed up with bloated, over-complex software, this is a good alternative.
