RocketDock is a great way to quickly access commonly used folders and programs
RocketDock is an attractive bar for quickly starting favourite programs and locations
The Windows Taskbar is servicable but not that attractive. RocketDock is an alternative that looks much better, not unlike the Dock in Mac OS X.
Installation is easy and RocketDock won't set itself to start with Windows by default. You will probably want to enable this option later on, but we prefer to try these programs first.
RocketDock appears at the top of the screen, reinforcing the fact that it is best used to supplement the Taskbar rather than replace it altogether.
It looks attractive with transparent effects and a smooth animation of the icons getting bigger as the mouse moves over them.
There are lots of options to tweak to get it working as you want. There are also a number of themes to choose from so it should match any existing Windows Themes on the computer.
Shortcuts can be added to RocketDock by just dragging and dropping them into place. Small arrows show apps and folders that are currently open.
It's a shame that it won't show running programs that don't already have an icon in RocketDock but it's still a good looking place to keep commonly used shortcuts.
