Share media around your home network with Twonky Suite

Twonky Suite is designed for enjoying media from your computer on other devices on the network. This can include music, photos, videos and even an online feed.

Installation is simple. If you are installing Twonky Suite as a demo you can click on Next when asked for a serial key. At the end of the installation wizard is on option to install TwonkyBeam for Internet Explorer.

We saw a message saying that Twonky Beam was out of date. An update on the Twonky website confirmed that development of this add-on has ceased. They recommend using My Twonky instead. We saw this message every time Internet Explorer starts so you'll probably want to disable the plug in.

The interface is clear and media is divided up by music, photos and videos. There are plenty of different ways to browse the files. For example the music tracks can be sorted by album, artist, genre or folder. It is easy to add folders to the different collections so that you are not limited to only streaming music stored in the standard Windows media folders.

Once media has been imported you can stream it to compatible televisions and radios.Twonky Server supports the main standards for streaming media, namely DLNA and UPnP. Some devices that don't follow this standard, such as the XBox 360 are also supported.

There are versions of Twonky for Mac and Linux.

There are apps for Android and iOS devices that give them control over your media playback. At just $3 they are very affordable.
