Listen to your music on the move with 7Digital for iPad and iPhone

Apple would probably want you to only use iTunes to buy music for your iPad or iPhone, but there are other online stores including 7digital. This free app makes it easy to download and listen to music bought from 7digital online.

You will need an account before you install this app as there is no way to sign up from within it. This isn't really a problem as this is a player rather than a complete store.

Once you have bought music from 7Digital, tap the refresh button in the top left hand corner of the app to refresh the list. You can then select individual tracks to download or complete albums.

You can switch to other apps while the music is playing and we were very pleased to see that the 7Digital Player appears in the panel that appears when you double tap the home button.

Music downloaded through the 7digital app can only be played through the app as it won't appear in the Music app. As 7digital downloads are MP3s it is possible to copy them into iTunes on a computer and then access them through Music on the iPad along with your other music. This makes the 7digital app useful for getting hold of music on the move, if bought through Safari for example, but we'd still probably import the tracks into iTunes once we connect the iPad to a computer again.

Even so this is a very useful app for listening to music bought from 7digital, especially impulse buys while on the move.
