A type of portable PC with a touch-sensitive screen. Many tablets have onscreen keyboards activated by touch as well as the the option of connecting a keyboard. There are three types of tablet distinguished by operating system: Windows 8 tablets, produced by Microsoft and a range of other manufacurers: the Apple iPad, which runs iOS; and tablets that run Google's Android software.
