Travel site teams up with eco-friendly portal to offset environmental cost of holidaying
Travellers booking a hotel or car hire with Expedia can now reduce their carbon footprint.
The travel comparison site has teamed up with environmentally friendly search website Click4Carbon to give profits generated through bookings to the Plant A Tree Today Foundation. This charity helps set up school tree nurseries and provide environmental education as well as fund community development projects.
John Russell, managing director of Click4Carbon, said: “We have always wanted to spread the message that you do not have to make wholesale changes to your lifestyle to reduce your carbon footprint and protect the environment.
“By partnering with Expedia, our users will be able to make bookings for hotels and car hire in the same way as they always would, the difference is that they will have the knowledge that by using our portal they will be helping to fund reforestation and environmental projects.”
Users must visit the Click4Carbon website and click on the Expedia booking links. This will take them to a page listing hotels and car hire.
